A tribute to The Legend

Pramlee or his real name Teuku Zakaria Teuku Nyak Puteh @ Ramli Puteh are a malaysian legendary evergreen actor, Singer, Comedian, Songwriter, Screenwriter and Film Director show Melayu Boleh. He began all the carrier form Travelled to Singapore on Idil Fitri to audition for Malay Film Productions of Jalan Ampas (8 Aug 1948). and then Moved to Kuala Lumpur to join Merdeka Film Productions of Ulu Klang (16 Apr 1964).

As a child, he studied in several schools, including the famous Penang Free School. During his school days he was very active in sports, especially sepak takraw, badminton, and football.

From his ability to show melayu boleh spirit he get awarded since 1945 to 1965 the awards he got are ‘Third Place’ in North Malaya Singing Contest, Radio Malaya (Penang): , ‘First Place’ in Keronchong Singing Contest, Second Place’ in Penang and Province Wellesley, North Malaya Singing Contest, Radio Malaya (Penang): , ‘First Place’ in North Malaya Singing Contest, Radio Malaya (Penang):, in Film Raya Magazine: he got a title ‘Bintang Pujaan Malaya - Indonesia’ / ‘Favorite Artiste Malaya - Indonesia’ , in 1952 with the same award category he got a lot of title they are ‘Filem Terbaik’ / ‘Best Film’ - ‘Antara Senyum Dan Tangis’ / ‘Between Smile And Tears’ , Pelakon Terbaik’ / ‘Best Actor’ , ‘Filem Pujaan’ / ‘Favorite Film’ - ‘Juwita’ , Bintang Pujaan Wanita Malaya Kedua’ / ‘Second Favorite Female Artiste Malaya’ - Mariam Baharum (’Anjoran Nasib’).

P Ramlee has discovered by indian film director B S Rajhans from Malay Film Productions of Jalan Ampas, Singapore spotted P Ramlee singing his song ‘Azizah’ at the Malay Agriculture Show in Butterworth, Penang on 1 June 1948.he acted in his firt film called Chinta’ / ‘Love’ (1948) and He played a villain in the film.

and On 29 May 1973 P.Ramlee died at the age of 44 due to heart problems and was buried in Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur. In 1986, in honour of his contributions to the Malaysian entertainment industry, the P. Ramlee Memorial was set up in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. In 1982, Jalan Parry in the KL city centre has been renamed Jalan P. Ramlee in his honor. He was posthumously awarded with the Malaysian honorific title Tan Sri in the early 1990s.
