The Malaysian National Defence University (UPNM) vice-chancellor , Leftenant-General Datuk Zulkifli Zainal Abidin, said the university, which opened in 2007, was striving to become a full military university and would not be admitting non-military students from next year.

Next year on 2011 UPNM will be opening a medical faculty and an aerospace faculty . It presently has faculties for engineering, science and technology and management.

He said the move was to differentiate UPNM from other universities as the students underwent character building to become leaders.

They also obtained a bachelor’s degree in their academic discipline that included technology management,nautical science, computer science, engineering, and human resources management.

A graduate in computer engineering, posted to the 10th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment in Majidee Camp, Johor Baru are the best cadet overall his is Capt Mohd Faiz Mohamed.

The best army cadet was Capt Ahmad Muadz Ahmad Shuhaili who graduated with a degree in computer engineering. He is posted to the Fifth Battalion of the Royal Malay regiment.

The cadets that graduated with a degree in nautical science awarded The best naval cadet was Lt Muhamad Sarmizi.

The best air force cadet was Capt Mohammad Radzi who graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering.

Currently, it had a 20 per cent quota in place for non-military students.

“The quota will be filled by armed forces cadet officers,” he told reporters at the passing out parade.
